Yu-Kai CHEN often relies on intuition in his creative process, using spontaneous brushstrokes to express his life experiences. As an outdoor enthusiast, he frequently incorporates elements of nature into his work. The dense bushes in the mountains represent the powerlessness of humanity, while the splashing waves and starfish depicted in his paintings evoke an awareness of forces beyond human control. For CHEN, riding the waves is both accidental and exhilarating, capturing the unpredictability and thrill of the experience. He weaves these elements into his memories, creating stories that go beyond the human experience, and invites viewers to interpret and tell these stories in their way.
Through his paintings, CHEN establishes a network of interaction with all living things on Earth, inviting viewers to embark on an adventurous journey. When confronted with the unknown, humans may feel fear or passion, and CHEN manipulates these emotions through his aesthetic choices, sparking a sense of curiosity and excitement as viewers engage with his work.
